Understand the language used
Patient information may describe placement behind breast tissue or behind the chest muscle. Surgeons may also use more specific terms for partial muscle coverage. Ask your surgeon to draw the proposed pocket and explain it in plain language.
Ask why it suits your anatomy
Useful factors to discuss include existing breast tissue, chest shape, implant dimensions, activity, appearance goals and the surgeon’s experience. A method that was right for another patient may not be right for you.
Discuss recovery and trade-offs
Ask whether placement changes the expected tightness, movement restrictions, animation of the breast with muscle contraction, future imaging or revision options in your case. Request balanced benefits and drawbacks.
Keep the decision clinical
Social media photos cannot show anatomy, surgical technique or long-term follow-up. Use them only to communicate preferences; make the medical decision with an appropriately qualified surgeon.
